Are you stuck in the same relationship patterns — even when you can see them clearly?
Discover what's keeping you stuck and build closer, more satisfying relationships with attachment-based therapy.
Attachment Style Therapy is for You If …
You want closeness, but when someone actually gets close, something in you pulls back.
You feel more comfortable on your own, even though you wish connection felt a little easier.
Everything in your relationship is fine on paper, but something feels unsteady, like you're waiting for it to all fall apart.
You notice yourself reading into things, anxiously waiting for responses — and you're tired of how much energy it takes.
You're exhausted by the same patterns: choosing partners who can't quite meet you, reacting to small things, or swinging between independence and longing.
My Approach to Attachment Therapy
The patterns you're stuck in aren't a personal failing. They made sense once. They were how you learned to stay safe in relationships that weren't consistent or predictable. The problem is that the same strategies that protected you then are getting in the way of your relationships now.
My approach to attachment therapy isn't abstract. In our sessions, we slow things down. We look closely at your emotional life and explore how you learned to relate, where these patterns came from and what's kept them in place. I notice what you say, what you avoid, and how you move toward or away from others. Over time, you begin to understand yourself more clearly, and relationships that once felt out of reach start to feel more possible
Hi, I’m Emily
I'm a psychodynamic therapist in Los Angeles who sees clients in person in Atwater Village and online throughout California. I work with adults who are capable and reflective — people who tend to hold a lot in their heads and aren't always sure therapy is for them, until something in their life starts to feel stuck.
Rather than quick fixes, therapy with me is a space to explore what feels difficult or confusing in a way that's thoughtful, collaborative, and paced for real change. My style is practical and grounded. You don't need to arrive with a plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. These patterns formed for a reason, and they can shift once that reason is understood. Over time, you may notice yourself less quick to pull away, or less likely to spiral when something feels uncertain. The change tends to be quieter than people expect, but it's real.
-
Not on day one. We start with what's happening now. When it becomes useful to look back, we do — but gradually, and only when it feels right to you. We don’t force it.
-
There's no set timeline. Most people start noticing something shift within a few months. Deeper change takes longer, but you'll feel it building.
-
That's a reasonable place to be. The free 15-minute consultation is just a conversation to see if this feels like a good fit. No obligation after that.
-
We talk and notice what comes up. Patterns, feelings, hesitations. Insight is useful, but what matters most is when something in you starts to feel different.
