Does This Sound Like You?

  • You replay conversations, decisions, and interactions long after they're over, analyzing what you should have said or done differently.

  • Competence has started to feel like your whole identity. Resting or asking for help feels dangerous.

  • You can analyze what's wrong with perfect clarity. But the insight hasn't made it stop.

  • To most people, you seem like you have it together, but something underneath feels stuck or quietly off.

  • You hold yourself to a standard that never quite feels met, no matter how much you accomplish.

My Approach to Overthinking and Perfectionism

Overthinking and perfectionism aren't just habits to manage. They developed for a reason. My work focuses on understanding what's underneath them, where these patterns came from and what's kept them in place, rather than just finding ways to work around them day to day.

In our sessions, we slow things down and look closely at what's actually happening, not just what you think about it. I notice what you say, what you avoid, and where you get stuck, and we use that to understand what's keeping you there. We pay attention to the tension you hold or the moments you brush past. Over time, the overthinking quiets and the pressure loosens, and life starts to feel easier.

Hi, I’m Emily

I'm a psychodynamic therapist in Los Angeles who sees clients in person in Atwater Village and online throughout California. I work with adults who are capable and reflective — people who tend to hold a lot in their heads and aren't always sure therapy is for them, until something in their life starts to feel stuck.

Rather than quick fixes, therapy with me is a space to explore what feels difficult or confusing in a way that's thoughtful, collaborative, and paced for real change. My style is practical and grounded. You don't need to arrive with a plan.
